Tribulus terrestris
– native to Europe, southern Asia and northern Australia, tribulus has
long been used as a tonic and an aphrodisiac in Ayurvedic medicine. It has been
claimed that besides its potent tonic, metabolic rejuvenating properties,
tribulus has testosterone boosting properties, apparently by stimulating
gonadotropin-releasing hormones (GnRH). The active ingredient in tribulus
terrestris is believed to be protodioscin, a natural plant steroid,
cousin to DHEA. In animal studies, tribulus has shown to enhance sexual
activity more than synthetic testosterone. Tribulus is most reputable
for its body tonic properties, which together with its attributed androgenic
strengthening qualities, makes it a great natural kidney supportive herb as well
as an overall metabolic restoring aid. |
