Hi - I just started the Warrior Diet and I am Type 1 diabetic.  Lots of folks at my work say it is not a good idea for a diabetic to fast but I don't believe it.  I test my blood sugar often and have not had any 'lows' yet.  Blood sugar is pretty stable during 'undereating' phases.  I love the challenge this diet offers and I am feeling pretty good -although I haven't seen weight loss yet, my stomach feels tighter.  Are there any other Type 1's out there?  I'd love to hear your experiences and how long you have been successful on this way of eating.  Also, I think I read that diabetic's should avoid meat? why? I think that is too much of a challenge for me.  My meals usually consists of meat and salads vegetables w/cheese at night-occasionally I have beer or wine.  During 'undereating' I sometimes have a cup of beef broth or black coffee for a 'pick me up.'  Any tips are appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello Tauwin,

I do not have Type 1 diabetes but I have recently found out that I am a borderline diabetic and that "...I had better start taking care of this." I have been on the AED diet now for about two months and will have a blood test done in the near future to see how I am doing. Good luck to you.

Tauwin, thanks for your question.  I can tell you that it's very possible to control and even reverse hypo/hyperglycemia and type II Diabetes.  With Type I, you're dealing with a situation where your pancreas either isn't making any insulin or very little.  Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do with diet to change that fact.  However, it is important that you watch what you eat, in order to maintain proper liver function and insulin sensitivity.  I can only see the Anti-Estrogenic Diet benefiting you for that reason.  I've never heard that Diabetics should avoid meat, although you definitely shouldn't over do it.  Also, make sure when eating meat, that you eat good fresh quality, organic, and not the hormone laden stuff.  For you, I would definitely minimize the alcohol consumption.  And, you are wise to continuously check your blood sugar.  It's very important that you always have a good feel for where it is.

Thank you for the responses.  I'm real excited about this way of eating and am taking your advice seriously.  As of this morning I dropped 1.5 pounds! Very motivating I'd say! I'll try to cut out the alcohol.
