I see Ori is recomending whey during the day now. How many shakes is the recomendation (every couple hours?) How much protein in the shakes? I have read about  some people using caesin, yogourt, BCAA, or cottage cheese. What is the difference between them and whey?
I am a bit confused though. In Ori's article he states that having a protein meal after the workout is better than before (more muscle, more fat burning), so wouldn't having whey shakes during the day negate the affects.
I have been doing straight water fasts (well water, coffee, and tea) for along time, but am entering into a muscle building/mass phase and if the whey protocal during the day is the way to go then I am there. Would like to here some feedback as soon as possible, as my new phase is starting tomorrow. Thank guys and have a great day.

I just read why yogourt is not acceptable as a protein as opposed to whey. Makes sense. I think I will try the whey during the day (whey and water). I plan on having one around 6-630 am (I get up around 530am and do some joint mobility, and sometimes a little walk or biking), a shake around 945am (first break at work), and I dont know whether to have one around 12 (lunch) or have another around 2pm (last break and right before heading home and working out at 330pm, its a 8 min walk home for me). Any thoughts? I might just hold off on the whey till I get all my BCAA tabs used up too though, might take them through out the day till they are gone then use my whey.

Wow, 30 views and not one opinion. Not even an "expert" opinion.  From my readings online, it seems the ones that recomend protein during the fast are the ones that have protein products to sell (T Nations "Pulse Fast", and now Ori) I hope this is a legitimate claim and not just a ploy to boost sales. Say it isn't so Ori.

So has anyone started using this protocal yet? If so, do you notice anything different? I haven't started yet.Keep reading about it on Dr Mercolas site. He is really pushing it (and his protein powder)

Hunter, I have many questions too, but I need to wait for a reply, I suppose.
I am not a nutritional expert like Ori, and I try not to come across as one like every other fitness guru who only repeats what he or she hears from "fitness magazines." I am reading Maximum Muscle Minimum Fat--I have read WD and AED--because I want to further educate myself. Ori has written many comprehensible novels that articulate his science. Therefore if Ori says that concentrated, organic whey protein is acceptable during the under-eating phase, then I agree with him. Of course, however, he does emphasize that active individuals should consume Whey during the day, as oppose to sedentary people who should consume less than energy expended. Make sense? If you are active and need to fuel amino acids into your bloodstream, do so.

I might try using bee pollen instead. It doesn't have the amount of protein whey does (unless you use alot), but it has alot of leucine (the amino they say you need) and it has alot of extra goodies whey doesn't. I think it may help with detox also. Just my two cents. and until the cows come home and theres a blue moon out there, we will have to wait till an "expert" informs us.

I guess I might as well give up on Ori and his site. He makes some good arguments, products, and such. But when it comes to interacting with the people that support him, we are left in the dark. I have communicated with alot of people from different areas and they all get back to you (sometimes not in depth, but they still get back to you). Ori doesnt even have the decency to even stop by his own website forum for a quick hello. I have three of his books. Was going to get his new one. But as I have said, might as well give up on him. I thank him for getting me started toward the IF lifestyle, but to leaving alot of members out in the cold and not even saying hi to the ones that help pay the bills, come on.

You’re right. I’ve been absent in the WD forum but it isn’t because I decided to ignore you. I’ve been totally consumed by finishing my latest book and at the same time managing production, answering emails, doing workshops, interviews, etc... We’re planning to release soon new blogs and I’ll try to address questions in the forum more frequently.

As for the whey protein issue, for the purpose of muscular development I recommend using “pulse- feeding” - which is a frequent use of whey protein (20 g net protein no sugar added) every 2- 3 hours throughout the day. The fast assimilating rate of the whey shifts your body from feeding to a fasting state within 15- 30 minutes. Which then keeps your body in fasting state for most of this time. This regimen yields a double advantage: keeping your body in an intermittent fasting state while nourishing your muscle at the same time. We’ll soon release a new article on muscle rejuvenation vs. muscle build up which will address this issue in more details.

I appreciate you getting back to me. I might have to try the pulse feeding as I am starting to feel pretty hungry during the day. And am looking to add alil muscle to my frame. Thanks

Hi Ori,

Good to see you leaving some feedback.

One thing that isn't quite clear to me about the pulse feeding is that fruit/vegetable intake during the day. You recommend to take no sugars with the whey protein. Does this eliminate fruit too? How about( raw) vegetables? Is it just whey protein during the day or is there room for fruit and veggies too?

(I read your arcticle about rejuvenating your muscles, but couldn't find this info in there.)

Thx

** I clearly wrote that you can mix Warrior Whey with low glycemic fruits such as berries. The same goes for vegetables.

Hi all-

I am wondering about the use of the plain whey versus the whey+coconut triglycerides+sweet whey/nonfat milk combination that is in the complete Warrior Whey mix? Would the added carbs in the sweet whey and nonfat milk cause an insulin spike and hence disturb the fasted metabolism more significantly if used for pulse meals every 3 hours during the undereating phase?

I realize that this thread may be getting a little stale, but I didn't see this addressed anywhere else, and would like to clarify.

Best regards,
Mdw2020

** The organic sweet whey and milk have minimal glycemic impact. Both the flavored and plain Warrior Whey are classified as diabetic friendly.

What I gather from Ori`s article is to take some coconut oil with the whey shakes. As to how much I am not sure, but I suppose it would be around a teaspoon.

**There is Coconut MCTs in the flavored shake. You can add 1-2 tsp of organic coconut oil or quality MCT to the plain whey but this may slow the protein absorption rate.

Ori-

I second Hunter's thanks. It is very helpful. it seems that either the plain whey, with or without added coconut oil, or the flavored complete shakes are suitable options for pulse feeding during the day.

I'm switching over to this pulse feeding approach, and will report back in results as to how it goes.

Thanks again for the clarifications.
