In the initial Phases of AED, can you veer off for one night in between the phases or somewhere along the line and still have the benifits?

Example: You start AED, but a week in there's a birthday. You go to the birthday party that night, sticking with undereating all day, and have some cake at night for your meal. Or you decide to have have a relaxed night and get some organic ice cream and organic cookies and have those instead of your Phase Meal.

Then, the next day, you continue on the next or the same Phase, depending on where you're at.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks...

Of course it is always best to stick to the program. But an occasional sidetrack isn't a real big deal methinks. As long as your general course is forward, you should be okay. If I did your example with the ice cream and cookies and I was on phase 2, I would probably add a few more days to phase 2 before moving on but that's just me.

Okay, so tonight I veered off AED and ate some organic cookies and ice cream.

I couldn't even finish. Within twenty minutes I felt like a big pile of steaming poo poo. I felt it throughout my body: heavy, sluggish, warm, gross.

I'm back on the diet tomorrow!

Nice description.  Anyway, go ahead and cheat from time to time.  It's good for you, especially psychologically.  It's never good to feel like you can't take a break from time to time.  Both Warrior Diet and the Anti-Estrogenic Diet are very effective.  An occasional day or night off is not going to hurt you.  Of course, you may just feel like a "steaming pile of poo" after eating that way, but hey, it just shows you how your body responds to bad eating.

I agree. Veering from "normality" every so often is not going to set you can too much, and in fact, studies show that when dieting heavily for a week or two, a meal or even a full day of "bad" foods can actually increase the rate of fat burning, namely because this 'binge' consists of a very large number of calories which has a positive impact on hormones responsible for lipolysis (fat burning).

With that said, it is best to try not to indulge yourself while initially going through the first and second phases of the diet, as these phases "clean" out the body so to speak, and then when you do eat a "banned" food, you can easily see how it does or does not affect you.

As aready said, if you do have a binge day or meal, then it is wise to eat very cleanly the following day, preferably sticking to foods in the 1st phase, or thre 2nd phase if you do better on foods higher in fat than carbs.

Lastly, remember warriors or hunter gatherers of the past would have no doubt binged on honey or maple syrup if they came across a bees nest or maple syrup tree. Of course, this would not have been an everyday affair, unlike nowadays where these and other sweet foods have become the norm.

So basically it's not recommended to veer off the diet at all?  and if I do be sure to stick with it immediately after.

I had started AED in the middle of Oct and was doing fairly well. It seemed every 4-5 days I would give into the sugar or carb cravings, but I was able to stay within reasonable limits. The next day I would be right back to Detox. In the 5-6 weeks it took to get to Thanksgiving I had lost 20 lbs and was feeling better. Normal for me was headaches, tired and grumpy moods most the time. I know that sugar is the worst thing I can put into my body, but I'm addicted to it, and I know it. It's worse than being a junkie; I can feed my habit from any corner store and everyone I know can hand me my next fix. On thanksgiving I had promised my friend, who cooks for days before that and Christmas dinner, that I would not be on my diet or have to stay suger free. That day I felt I did OK. I followed Ori's advice and ate veggies during the day, Dinner was more veggies, and turkey with no potatoes or bread. After dinner I did drink some wine and had a small piece of pecan pie. The next day it was like the floodgates were open, I could not seem to get back to detox for more than a day or two. And it's been like that through today. I've stayed with the supplements and vit. and start off the day with fruit, ussually grapefruit, and later a mixture of raw veggies. Sometime durning the afternoon or evening I start to binge on the wrong foods. I've gained back 10 lbs and feel bad most the time. Headaches are back and my energy is gone before I even get out of bed. My husband and friends don't support me in eating a healthier diet, even so that's no excuse for me to not do what I instinctively know is the right choices for me. I've got to do what's best for me and I believe following the AED is the best for me.

I was wondering how many others have veered of for a night and not made it back on for a few day/weeks? Is there an easier way to get through the first few daysof detox? I felt so bad the first week and I'm dreading having to go through it again. Or do I just make up my mind and do it again? Am I allowed to use this form as a support system, someone I could be held accountable to, to help me stay on track as I make life time changes?

Don't despair, I as well had started in Oct. 10/24 to be exact. At first I lost 13 lbs in 6 days, I was hooked but then I fell off the wagon thru the hoidays! Trust me I wasn't as good as you were for turkey day! I ate whatever I wanted, I know it isn't recommended but for me if I'm going to lose 100lbs plus I can't be that strict, I'll go crazy! So I got back on slowly but surely and by Xmas I lost a total of 24 lbs! I was ecstatic! I knew I could do this for the rest of my life. I ate non AED xmas eve and wasn't too bad I had a few good things I could eat but of course I went for the sugar because thats' my downfall. That night I just told myself its' only 2 days and I'll get back to it. Within 4 days I gained 10lbs! I was so bummed but I made a new commitment every morning and I was usually good until  3 or 4pm and then I'd grab chips or some lunch meat. But what I found was as long as  I underate during the day the effects of cheating weren't too bad overall. So long story short I keep getting on that horse every morning and I have lost 5.5 of the ten so far in less than a week and today I haven't fell off the wagon yet, I say yet, but I do really want to get back to 100% clean I feel so much better!

The great thing is as everyone has said, you can cheat once in awhile and still reap the benefits if you get back on track, but you have to get back to it!. The big things I focus on are no chicken, beef & sugar substitutes  they seem to effect my weight gain alot. I  add as many organic things to my diet as possible and I tend not to eat all day and it works great for me. The great thing is I have learned so much about my body and which foods effect it negatively whether that be making me ill or gaining weight. At the moment I'm trying to add my hubbie to the plan but it's difficult, he has terrible eating habits but knows he needs to lose weight for his health. It makes it very hard on me when everyone eats the traditional way, but I just focus on the 55lb I lost since last year and I focus on the next 10lbs to go! The 1st 36lbs left largely to vegetarian lifestyle so this so similar I know my body responds well. Don't give up, you can do it!!! Trina
