What am I doing wrong

Hi everyone....I've been on this plan for about 3 weeks. Initially I lost 6 pounds the first week....I should mention I'm about 100 pounds overweight. I have not lost any more weight since the first week. In fact, I keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds.... I eat 8 oz plain lowfat yogurt each morning. I have some fruit about 10:30. A salad with vegis only and oil & vinegar dressing. Sometimes fruit in the afternoon and then fish, cooked vegis, beans with brown rice for dinner. Nothing before bed............. I'm getting discouraged. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I would suggest sticking to the detox to keep your body moving in the right direction. I would ask if your food sources are clean and organic. Also, are you on any kinds of medications or taking any particular supplements? Also, you may have a blood sugar issue, which if this is the case, you may want to minimize the fruit during the day. The other aspect is to add some light CFT for 5 or 10 mins. every evening before dinner. You'd be amazed at what this can do to accelerate your fat loss.

What type of yogurt do you have? Is it organic? Even low fat yogurt can still have a lot of sneaky sugars in it, especially the non-organic type. Also, I switched to having Kefir instead of yogurt, which I was able to find a lot of information about how it improves digestion and helps increase weight loss. I had never heard of it before, but I've been having that mixed with some berries each day. YOu may want to try switching to it. I was able to find it at a few different regular ol' grocery stores here, and I'm not in a big city.

Hi thanks for your response.... I have been buying organic. I don't have diabetes but my sugars were on the "high" end according to my last check up so I'll try cutting back on the fruit and see what happens.

That's a good plan. Also, make sure that you're properly nourishing your body with a good multi-vitamin. You might also try juicing during the afternoon, as this can tend to enhance the detox process, not to mention that it's incredibly satisfying. I know if you stick with it, you'll have success. Also, and you may think I'm nuts for saying it, but do not drink any alcohol while doing detox as it just simply will not work if you do. You may not drink anyway, but you'd be shocked at the number of people who drink while dieting and then wonder why they're not getting results. Not trying to be offensive here, just figured I should mention that in case it hadn't occurred to you.

Hi Fatbroad, I like you am getting very discouraged. I have been on the plan for 3 weeks and have only managed to lose 3 lbs. I do feel better however with the cost of Organic foods and no weight loss I'm starting to feel like this is another fad diet. I have followed the plan to the "T", taken all the vitamins and EstoX. I plan on giving this plan another 2 weeks an if I don't see any results I'm going to chalk it up to another fad diet. I do hope you have better success than I am having.

Jenni, I can tell you that this is NOT another fad diet. Have you carefully analyzed what you're eating? You may find that you've been eating something that is working against you. Like I said, everyone is different. I can tell you, after working with many, many people, that this diet works - and quite well. Before you start calling it a fad, I would suggest that you post exactly what you're eating here and let me help you decipher what the problem might be. I can tell you that one of the biggest skeptics was my own mother, who after having just finished week 1 of the diet has lost 7 lbs. To me, that's pretty amazing, and I know that she didn't use all that many organic ingredients, but she did follow the plan.
Have you downloaded the Eating Plan Outline and read the last 3 newsletters? I would suggest that if you haven't done so already. Post specifics about your diet, along with anything supplemental that you're taking, including medicines, etc. and I'll try to help you streamline things.

I never planned on posting to this forum even though I have been reading it for several weeks. When I read your posts Jenni & Fatbroad, I felt that I really should respond. I have now been on the diet for 5 weeks and have lost 23 pounds. This is not a fad diet, because it is slowly changing my life. I too have 100 pounds to lose. For the first time in over 40 years, I feel it is possible. Please don't give up. Here is what I have been doing. I know each person is different, so you will have to experiment to see what works for you. My first knowledge of the diet was out of the magazine. Unfortunately, the diet was incomplete and not completely accurate. Since reading the book, the newsletters, and everything on this website and listening to all the interviews, I have immersed myself in not only the diet but what I think is the philosophy of what this team of people are trying to do. I think they want us to change our outlook and dependency on food. Here is what I have been eating.
Morning – glass of water, probiotics, along with a grapefruit, orange, or papaya.
Lunch – Vitamins, magnesium, potassium. (I have stomach trouble so I can’t take them
on an empty stomach.) Salad; lettuce, tomato, beets. *No dressing. Or a stalk of celery and a handful of baby carrots.
Dinner – Cooked broccoli, cauliflower, or Brussels sprouts.
Beans every meal; eggs four times a week, and fish twice a week. (Sometimes I add a salad to the beginning of the meal if I’m very hungry.)
*I combine equal parts of Oregano, Thyme, and either Rosemary or Sage with a splash of lemon juice and a drop of Olive Oil, then drop it on my salad. Sometimes I add a little Turmeric to this combination for a topping on my fish, too. Just make sure you mix it well and try to separate it so you don’t get large clumps of it.
I stayed on Phase 1 for 2 weeks. I lost 10 pounds the first week and 5 the second week. Then I moved to Phase 2. I didn’t lose a pound that week. My book arrived in the mail and after reading it, I went back to Phase 1. I stayed on it for another 2 weeks. I've begun this week by moving back to Phase 2, but I’m being more careful what I’m eating. I eat the same thing during the day and at night, I dropped the fish and eggs and added a handful of nuts (nut for the day) after the beans. Watch your portions during the day. Try to keep in mind that you want to under eat if possible. Since I haven’t started exercising again yet, I don’t need much during the day. Also, try to stay away from grains for a while and cut back on the fish. The Hummus recipes are wonderful and so are the bean soups. Try them. I hope this post wasn’t too long and that it might help you. Good luck. Hope to hear from you both again.

A couple of things. First is that the yogurt should be shifted to the afternoon rather than the morning and reduce the amount to about 4 oz. I have seen better results keeping the low glycemic fruit in the morning. The more you stick to low glycemic friuts and veggies during the day the better. Also what are you drinking, this very important. Water and unsweetened herbal teas are the best. My wife was the mom in First Mag. and believe me this is no fad! You have to give it your all and believe it will work for you too! If you don't see it, speak it, believe it, and take action on it, it will not work for you. I cannot stress enough that you have to believe in yourself first to achieve your goals! You are all winners and can achieve any goal you want, just take it and run with it. The only way we fail is to give up on ourself, if you keep trying and having faith you can never fail! I live by the diet and so does every member of my family, even our 2 year old son. I can only tell you that I work hard every day to control my mind and mouth to keep myself living in my heart. I instill this philosophy in my family and every person I meet because I know what is in all of our hearts, (a winner), but it is our mouth and our mind that stops us! This is not a diet, it is a way of life and the TRUTH! I'm glad that Ori is speaking the truth and taking a stand for what he was called to do. Defense Nutrition will change the world and help millions of people change their health. You just need you to go all in and believe you can do it!
Thanks,
Barry S.

Cherlyn, thanks for that great post. It certainly is exciting when someone finally seems to "get it" as far as what we're trying to do. Thanks Barry for your posts as well.

I don't have a lot of weight to lose (only 10-15 pounds) but I had gained those 10 pounds in only 6 months and my liver enzymes were inexplicably high. I take no medications, I was eating well, and exercising 2-3 times per week with no improvement in my weight, and liver enzymes still high.
So, I started this diet 2 weeks ago and Ive already lost 3 pounds. I've exercised a couple times (a little less than I had been). Besides changing the foods I eat, and the times I eat them, I am drinking green tea during the day at work instead of coffee. When I called my mom to tell her I lost my third pound, she said, "Well, I guess you know now that this is what you really needed, and not just more exercise." And I thought, "hey.. yeah... I guess that's true!"

I lost 13 pounds in two weeks, then allowed myself to eat cheese at dinner one night. I gained 5 pounds the next day. It took me 3 days to get if off, and now I'm sort of stalled. Ori mentions in his book about certain foods, like cheese, having a bad effect on you. So you just have to check yourself out on food sensitivies, as numerous books these days address the fact that they can cause obesity. Ori's book has the whole picture though, because of the estrogen chemical factor, and he says to check your scale, because after all, that's the ultimate berometer for success. We are all so individual, it's like we are our own little chemistry sets and we have to see what works best for ourselves. There is a Scientist in Scotland I read about that's trying to ban pesticides because he believes they contribute to obesity in Great Britten. I was treated for eggs which hurt my stomach and puffed me up by a N.D. who does N.A.E.T. for food allergies. Now I can eat them with no problem and it's essential on this diet. I wish I could afford to do the rest of my allergies. For a treat, I had made a nice ministroni and was eating that with rice pasta, and I hoped I could have cheese with it, but obvously not. My soup does not have enough cabbage and is not as effective as Ori's soups with eggs. Like the book says, you loose the best or fastest with his soups combined with eggs, and not rice. Within the 4 hour dinner phase, eating the soups loaded with cabbage and beans, along with mostly egg white omlettes seems to have been the best for dinner, so I'm going back to the soups in the book for best weight loss, even though technically the soup I made had nothing bad in it. Also, I was eating organic, dairy free, co co powder by Alaska with the bear on it, blended with Agave nectar and then with low fat yogurt at night for a delicious treat. It was fine till I ate cheese for dinner one night. I may be eating too much of that chocolate yogurt at night, so I'm going to cut it down to just one small serving like I did when I was losing 1 pound per day. I love Organic Agave for weight loss since it's delicious and never triggers insulin, but it is higher in calories so I need to experiment with how much I can use and still loose the 1 pound per day like I did initially.
I hope this post can help someone.

Hey Tricia, thanks for your post! It's important that people realize that we are all truly different and may have different results based upon different foods. There's no magic bullet, but there are some things (as you're finding) that seem to work well for everyone. We try to keep people running along those lines and then they can branch out a bit, based upon their own body chemistry.
