Hi,

This is my first post on the forums. Is the warrior diet suitable for women or should we be following the anti-estrogenic diet?

not sure which one to follow - I'm 33, female and have two children.

thanks

Yes, the WD is quite suitable for women.  Just read the home page of warrior diet.  Also, read around in the forum.  There are several women who have been posting about their successes on the Warrior Diet.l

I'll see about putting a picture of a woman on the front page of the Warrior Diet website since this question has come up twice already in the past few days. That's a clear indication that we're not effectively conveying the information about the diet.

Actually, when the diet first came out a few years ago, First for Women magazine named it a winner for weight loss excellence:

Quote
Nothing tugs at your purse strings like the promise of a fat-burning miracle, but let's
face it: the weight-loss industry is $35 billion fat, and sometimes it seems that the
only thing getting thinner is our wallets. Well, we've had it. We've spent the entire
year searching, researching, tasting and testing so you don't have to waste precious
time or money. We're so convinced that we've found 2002's 25 best (the fastest,
easiest, cheapest and most effective) get-fit solutions, that we are awarding them a
prize...FIRST'S first annual Slimmys for weight-loss excellence.
When it comes to diets, we weed the godsends from the gimmicks and give you the
very best every issue. But our pick for best of the best? The Slimmy goes to...The
Warrior Diet."

As for which diet to follow, well that's a good question. Both are very similar and share the same principles. Both work for both men and women. The AEDiet is more restrictive in terms of food choices, so many of us follow the Warrior Diet for it's awesome eating cycle and regularly rotate in the detox phases of the AEDiet. If the under/overeating of the Warrior Diet doesn't appeal to you, I'd recommend the AEDiet.

That's another area of confusion that we'll need to work on: we definitely need to do a better job explaining the two.

Sorry for the confusion. Hope this helps and good luck!

Well said "Webmaster".  Now I know why they call you ". . .master".  Anyway, just to add a bit of clarity about the diets.  The AEDiet is specifically to address estrogen disorders in men and women.  Unfortunately, many people (in fact, I think most) have a problem with excess estrogen and daily reap the negative consequences - without even knowing it.  That's the issue with the Anti-Estrogenic Diet.  It very specifically addresses certain disorders.  Women tend to be more sensitive to this, simply for the fact that they are familiar with the term "estrogen" and know that its excess directly affects their health.  This is seen with menstrual issues, menopause and estrogen related cancers.  However, MEN - you also need to be very wary of estrogen.  Prostate enlargement and cancer are both traced to an excess of estrogen in men.  Remember, knowledge is power.  Raising awareness of the issue is the first step.  Our goal here is not only to help people be lean, mean fighting machines, but healthy and enjoy a full, long quality life.  That won't happen if it's cut short by cancer, among the many disorders that can be caused by the overwhelming excess of estrogenic chemicals in our food, environment, etc.

Hey that would be awesome - for a moment I really did think it was aimed at men and thought oh nooo I can't do that. I think it would be a great idea to have a picture of a woman, there's nothing misleading about the nature of the diet itself at all however one gets the impression that a "warrior" is more male than female  Wink

This is what I am doing at the moment - in the mornings I have a glass of water, then some mixed fruit like papaya, pineapple, orange - all up I have about 2 cups of fruit for "breakfast". This lasts me for about two hours, then mid morning I'll have cottage cheese with some mixed sultana's or apple with some cinnamon. For lunch, it will be a stirfry which is cooked lightly so that the vegetables are still crunchy, not soft.Sometimes I'll add a small amount of chicken breast - the afternoon is the same with some fruit or carrot juice. Sometimes I'll have a sandwich with salmon or tuna and lots of greens in between. Then for dinner I'll have the same as lunch, starting with the salad. Lots of water in between, up to 2.5 - 3 litres of purified water. Even with dinner I very rarely have the starchy carbs like potato rice.

I take bee pollen half hour before lunch and with my dinner I'll take a fish oil tablet.

There are some old habits in there I know, but I am trying. My biggest hurdle is the belly fat. I know about the AED though it seems to me that what I am eating is not different to it.

I'd be grateful for your thoughts.

Thanks:)

I guess the wording of the diet had something to do with it and not too many females around made me think it was a diet aimed more at men/bodybuilding than women...

Hi there, Welcome! I am a woman also following the Warrior Diet solely, not the AED (even though I think the AED is great, too.) I found the Warrior Diet alone to be good for me. I am pretty new to the whole thing, also...been on the diet for a little over a month now. I definitely understand how you feel about women being the minority, I know. I initially thought this diet was for men only, but it's SOOO not, trust me. I have been following the diet now for a little over a month & I just want to tell you coming from another woman, that it is the best lifestyle change that I have ever made...I love it! I am being 100% honest with you (I don't have any reason not to be  Tongue ) This diet is awesome! I am 24  & I have one kid. You have probably read my other posts on here already...I have lost weight & gained much needed energy. My clothes are already fitting looser & everyone around me has noticed...

Anyway, I know it's a little rough at first at times, but if you just stick with it you are definitely going to see results and be successful. I promise.

Hi Candy Smiley

Thanks for your reply, no really I kind of fall into despair every now and then because I just didn't understand why I would be trying so hard and getting minimal results for my efforts!! It was really messing me up but I'm on track again, I guess this is the way I am - okay for a few weeks get down in the dumps for a day or two but then I pick myself up again. I'm reading the AED now and putting it into practice. Already I was doing good, but with some of the knowledge that I'm reading into now my diet needs a bit of tweaking.

Thanks for your support Grin  I love being part of this forum, my only wish being that I wish it was a little more active but then again that means we're putting bums on seats when they should be getting a workout instead Tongue
