I am doing the Warrior Diet.  So far I have been eating a few carrots during the day and a grapefruit.  I am buying a juicer today (Omega 8003) so I can juice leafy greans.  This will become primarily what I take in during the undereating phase.  Up until now I have been eating a lot of pinto beans and brown rice for my evening meal, along with cheese and natural yogurt.  I also take cod liver oil.  I put olive oil in the beans to increase the fat/calorie content.  I also put meat in the beans in about a one to one ratio.  I hunt and accumulate wild game (pigs and deer) faster than I can eat it.  I think I am going to drastically increase my meat consumption by increasing the ratio of meat to beans, making chili, and other ways.  Is there anything wrong with eating quite a bit of meat on a regular basis as long as it is either wild game or natural grass fed beef?  Is there anything else about my approach to the WD that seems off?

Thanks,

Jeff

In response to your question concerning your other habits on the WD, i would say that between the rice and beans you are having a large amount of carbohydrates. Im not sure if you want to lose body fat or not, (if you don't then you have nothing to worry about),but if your goal is to lose body fat then i would cycle between nights of high carbs and high fats, and on the high fat nights have a significantly smaller portion of the brown rice/ beans.
In terms of your meat question, theres nothing wrong with having a lot of meat, but you should definitely try and change the types of meats your having. Ori talks about experiencing different tastes and textures which is part of the reason why the WD is so great, so try different types of meats as well as fish and eggs and other forms of protein. ( i am extremely jealous that you have the means to hunt and eat your meals though. absolutely do that as much as possible because that sounds amazing)

Weight loss isn't an issue with me.  I am 5' 8" and weight around 148-150 lbs.  I would like to weight maybe a little less unless I can pick up a few more pounds of muscle mass.  But, since I am doing the ETK program, I don't necessarily expect to gain much in the way of muscle mass.  I do expect to gain strength, though.  I don't know a lot about alkalinity or acidity other than I think I have heard that we want our bodies to be more alkaline.  Would consuming greater quantities of meat make me more acidic?

Jeff, meat is acidic so consuming greater quantities would tend to make you more acidic.

How bad is that, and will juicing during the undereating phase counteract it?

Depends on which "expert" you read. Eating and juicing lots of leafy greens which are highly alkaline would certainly help.

Also a lot of cultures and tribes around the world have meat with some fruit.Of particular interest is the addition of pineapple since it contains an enzyme that makes the protein of the meat more easy to digest.Look it up Wink

Heres my take:
Would it make you temporarily more acid in order to break down the protein and digest it? Yes. Will it raise your acidity over the long term, no. Undereating with light foods makes it nigh impossible to become too acid or too alkaline throughout the day, as far as I am concerned.

natural hunting and eating is the wet dream of most of the people on this forum!

Aint nothing wrong with a lot of meat boooiiii, I tend to lean more to the meat myself. IMHO natural meat is better than varied types of more "messed around with" meat. You lucky devil!

If you eat selected, organic meats and if you don't consume them in raw amounts you should be doing well. Remember: meats were what made our ape-like ancestors brains grow the most. We started as scavengers, we became hunters and now must of us are scavengers again. But eating good, fresh meat in the right amounts will give your body some feeling of raw life. At least I believe so.

Nothing wrong with eating lots of wild meat!  Sounds like you eat a lot of carbs, though.  Grains should be eaten in moderation - read "Primal Blueprint" or anything else on the paleo diet, then split the difference between than and what Ori says Smiley.

Meat + Veggies + Fruits = Optimal Diet.  A little carbs goes alright with that, especially if you are really active, but beans & rice should not be the base for your meal.  Even w/ olive oil & meat.
