How ya all doing.  I just started the Warrior Diet. I hope to make this a success. Ya all seem like a pretty nice group of folks. Well expect that one bald dude. I got a question. What is the best way to start this thing.  Should I start right away by stopping all food all at once or should I ease into it somehow.  Thank ya very kindly.

It depends on how much experience you have of fasting before and what kind of support you have (is anyone else starting it with you? A friend started before me, put me onto it in fact, and that is of great help). I would suggest carrying fruit with you, just so it's there and you're not thinking about it all the time (the immmediate psychological effect of restriction is that you think about it all the time), e.g. a couple of apples or whatever you like, and maybe a few nuts for the afternoon. If you live and work in a city, you probably don't need to carry anything, just pop to the deli if you need something. Follow the principles to eat at night - salad, protein and veg, then fill up on carbs or nuts. See how it goes. You might end up just drinking water in the day if it suits you.

great guidance datay!  i like to advocate a water/ or calorie free fast during the day, but i have to say my mom is losing body fat as fast as i am and she eats low glycemic very minimally during her workday, AND she eats freely on the weekends.

the difference? she works like a trojan 40-50hrs week while i make my living on my tukus.   even my kettlebelling still puts me right along her fat loss rate.

maybe i should change careers?? lol. Grin

The best way to start the warrior diet? Well, what worked for me was consistently reminding myself that the body is not such a simple machine that injecting fuel (food) into its tank will lead to energy production. I did well reminding myself of this, and in time sure enough the long dormant warrior instinct opened its eyes.
What are your goals regarding the warrior diet?

My advice would be do as much as you can as soon as you can, but don't sacrafice psychological well-being in the beginnig.  What I mean by that, is try to water-fast/undereat 2 pcs of low glyc. fruit/veggies during the day (whichever approach you choose).  If you find yourself REALLY hungry or having trouble with that approach, add in some light protien (yogurt, keffir, eggs).

This diet really is more about conditioning your mind than your body.  One of the most helpful phrases I read was "allow yourself to NOT eat".  So with that in mind, do what you can and remember your final adaptaion of this lifestyle won't really have any bearings on your first couple weeks : )  so just get started!
