Hi,

I am new here.  Last night I finished the EAD book & this morning I purchased the WD book.  I haven't started the diet yet until I can clean out my cabinets & restock them with "good" food.  Unfortunately, I will be alone doing this - my husband & daughter will not join me.

I am post-menopausal which I started in my mid 30's.  I never took conventional HRT but chose Progesterone Cream instead which seems to be helping somewhat.

I haven't come across anything about taking Calcium supplements.  What would be a good kind / type to take?

I don't work so I have to watch our pennies & not able to order any of Ori's supplements at this time.  It is my understanding that I should take a good multivitamin.  I also want to get Vitamin C.  How about DIM?  Are there any others that I should take?

In the past, I ordered vitamins from Vitacost & VitaGlo but was wondering if these are "good" vitamins / supplements?

Is there somewhere I can get a good whey protein shake?

Thanks!

I can't advise on brands, as I'm assuming you're in the US (I'm in the UK), but calcium citrate is said to be easily absorbed. Chelated minerals are also supposed to be a god way to go. I'm pretty familiar with both books and not aware that calcium is particularly stressed, is this as you are post-menopause? I know potassium and magnesium are prescribed on the AE, and multiminerals on the Warrior. I personally - and I would be interested in finding out what others on here think - wonder how well absorbed minerals are on an empty stomach. Anyway, I take a trace mineral supplement made from the waters of Great Salt Lake in Utah - the company is www.mineralresourcesint.com (http://www.mineralresourcesint.com), though you might be better searching online for the product itself.

The verdict seems to be out on DIM and the other estrogen inhibitors - chrysin and apigenin. I posted on this the other day - read more on Dr. Ray Sahelian's site - he sells a chrysin supplement for other pursposes than estrogen/testosterone tweaking. They are very expensive so I wouldn't bother if I were you. Just eat plenty of broccoli, cauliflower and other such veg.

By the comments from others, the Warrior Whey looks good. Mercola also does one which is supposed to be a good product - I don't use whey protein.
