My question has to do with iron in the warrior essentials multi-vitamin...

I currently use Centrum for Men's vitamin pills, but I'm thinking about switching over to use the Warrior Essentials vitamins.  I read that men should not take iron in their vitamin pills due to the fact that men can not process iron out of their body. Is this true? The Centrum for Men's vitamins do not contain iron in them.  Would it be a concern that the Warrior Essentials contain iron?  Thanks.

yeah, as nate said, i asked this question before.

even if you don't want to take the warrior essentials, stop taking centrum, it's GARBAGE!!! it contains only synthetic crap. last year there was a big test on vitamin supplements and as i remember centrum was one of the worst, the body can only absorb about 5% of its vitamins... so in the best case you just get expensive pee, in the worst they could tax your liver

OK thanks for your response.

So basically it looks to me that the iron in the warrior essentials will not be harmful because it comes from a natural source, unlike other supplements that contain synthetic iron.

ChenZhen (and anyone else)- do you feel that the warrior essentials is a lot healthier / makes you feel more energetic, healthy etc...?  I just want to make sure since the warrior essentials are a lot more expensive than Centrum is.  Thanks

i didn't take the warrior essentials for a long time now, when i had finished my three bottles i started to use another multi. one of the reasons was that ori said there will be a new, better version of the essentials soon, that was more than one year ago and we are all still waiting. also, because i live in europe i had some troubles with customs and had to pay a lot for the essentials.

to be honest, i never felt more healthy taking a multi, the only reason why one could feel more energetic would be the high dosage of b vitamins (i think it's b 12???) that some multis contain.

if you can't/don't want to afford a high quality multi i would suggest don't take anything at all, centrum i a real waste of money, just invest in more fruit and vegetables.

at the moment i don't take any multi at all and i don't feel worse. it hasn't been proven that vitamin supplements have any benefits at all but for real foods it is proven, so i prefer to use my money for more good organic food.
moreover, some supplemented vitamins can even be toxic in high doses, with real food it never happens.

what i do use is ori's organic warrior whey and warrior milk, it's great for recovery and at the moment really cheap too

Men can process iron even better than females, but the problem is that some men(very few), don't eliminate iron through feces, and urine like they should which is a genetic disorder called hemochromatosis. This is not a very common disorder, but it can wreak havoc on your entire body if your iron levels are too high. Most men with hemochromatosis don't exhibit symptoms until their 40's, and usually by then the excess iron has taken it's toll on certain organs already. the simple solution is talk to your doctor, and tell him your "uncle Bob" has it, and you wanna be checked; also a safe bet is to donate blood every couple of months to keep your iron levels stable. If you do have this disorder you'll be drawing blood anywhere from once a week to a couple of times a year.
