Three to four weeks ago i decided that my body can not handle my overeating phase, being that i eat a big meal in a small amount of time and then, half an hour later i go to bed.So i decided to switch to the old 6 meals per day and see how that will work with me.I was mostly following Johns Berardi nutrition advices from his books. Thus i would like to share my experience, since its really recent

Lets start by saying what has improved while following the 6 meals per day.The best think that i have noticed is that, since i workout twice a day 2-3 days every week,i have been able to recover easier without feeling sore the whole day.
Something else of equal importance was that i was able to put on 4lb with only a 0,5% body fat increase.I was stuck at 76 kg and now i am 78 although i am not seeing such a big difference when i see myself on the mirror

On the other hand
Its really irritating to constantly think what you must eat every 3-4 hours.I also have the problem that i must eat not so good food(canned tuna for example)since i can not seem to eat enough calories
Really expensive!
No matter how carefully planned my meals might be,i will almost always eat something around bedtime, something very close to overeating
I also seem to have less discipline when it comes to eating unhealthy food
Yesterday i had my first headache in a very long time.In fact,i dont remember myself having one since i started the wd.
The biggest problem is that i cant seem to feel satisfied after having a meal, something that was present while wding!!!

Summary:It seems clear that i did not have total success with the 6 meals per day.Hell sometimes they might be 3-4 since my program does not allow for more(i want to eat my last meal 2-3 hours prior to my capoeira classes)So i guess that i might have to start wding again!

Any comments are welcome Grin

I was on the warrior diet for a few years, four to be exact. And I notice difference now compared to before, right now I am following the anabolic diet. Where you eat as much fat/protein and veggies as you can while having very low or no carbs during the weekdays, then all you can eat basically on the weekends for carbs, while moderate protein and fats.

I also eat more like 4-5 meals a day on the weekdays and ANYTHING on the weekends. I actually enjoy this way of eating alot better, being that I am able to eat alot of my already favorite foods on the weekdays ; steaks, hamburger patties, cheeze, bacon, eggs, etc. and a few servings of veggies a day.

The problem with the warrior diet was that I was never a really hearty eater to begin with, so I wouldn't be hungry if I don't eat and when I do I could never eat more then when I was satisfied which was only usually a steak and a salad. I have trained myself to eat more and more but I grew tired of having enormous meals lol.

What I liked about the warrior diet was that I became horribly lean and muscular, that bad part was that I was tired alot of the time and just felt light headed during the mid-afternoon. I used to water fast the whole day and feast at night.

The great thing about it though was I NEVER got sick, I lost my allergies and eczema, my skin was glowing and I had alot of energy, more like 'nervous/ravenous' grueling kind of energy, though it felt great I lost alot of mass and size which I am trying to gain back right now then possibly go back to WD, but with a salad or veggies during lunch and just a big hording meal at dinner.

(-:

I did save an enormous amount of money on groceries though lol.

I would say that the 6-meals-per-day-diet is suboptimal for your needs and the classical warrior diet does not fit your needs as well.

I would bridge the two approaches - 3-4 smaller meals during the day and one larger meal at night - totalling the same calories as now. If you would shrink down the smaller meals and at the same time enlargen the evening meal, you're back to warrior diet principles but for now you will probably do better on several medium sized meals and one bigger. Add more vegetables to your big meal if you do not feal satisfied after eating it - your satiety should always be granted at least once a day.

Ishina man i can say that wd is perhaps the best diet i might ever have tried.First of all it gives that feeling of satiety that no other diet gives. Now,i dont think that i will destroy my body by eating a big meal every day so i guess i will go back to the wd,after the weekend(want to finish the 6 meals per day supplies). The biggest, and in one sense only, problem still remains and that is that i will have to eat a lot and then go to bed,but i guess i can somehow make up for it.After all i wholeheartedly believe that the human body can adapt to almost every situation

I have been following the WD, but with a slight modification.  I can not go the whole day without eating something, I just get too hungry and weak. So here is what I have come up with.

On rest days (no exercise) I have a bowl of fresh fruit before I leave for work.  Then about an hour later I have a protein shake of just whey and fresh fruit.  Mid morning I snack on nuts ... my favorites are smoked almonds, macadamia, and pistachios and walnuts. These nuts higher in calories and good fats and help me to increase my calorie intake without taxing digestion too much. Plus they are so delicious that they satisfy my hunger.  At midday I have another protein shake of just whey and fresh fruit.  Late afternoon around 3PM I snack on more nuts.

Around 7PM I have my main meal consisting of fresh salad, then steamed fish or chicken with steamed vegetables and either brown rice, sweet potatoes or some type of complex carbohydrate. I will finish it off with my protein pudding (see the recipe section).

Just keep in mind that Jack Lalanne worked out early in the morning on an empty stomach, then only ate fruit and protein in the morning, maybe a small meal at lunch and then a meal at night. He never ate every 3 hours.  Also the controlled fasting you do during the day, even if it is no food at all or low density, low digestion (like I do), has shown to very healthy in longevity studies.

So far this has been working for me.

Well i came back to the wd and well, arent i happy!I have been fasting the day and eating my big meal at night for once more.1 hour ago i trained and i have to say that i ate a little too much but oh well,i dont think that its gonna ruin my progress.I noticed that i am able to digest the food faster if i fast during the day and eat my meal at once(that means not waiting 30 minutes after the salad).Guys, the fasting during the day/eating at night philosophy is just great.I think of myself as an idiot for even trying to go back to the 6 meals per day.I am really happy now! Guys, I am relatively new to the WD.  This is my third week.  I am reading more and more about people that fast all day and only eat the main meal at night.  I thought the WD was about detox during the day via raw veggies, fruit and maybe nuts...all in moderation for the undereating phase.  I am primarily trying to clean up my body from poor eating habits of the last five years and to shed a lot of fat.

My question is the detoxing effect from eating raw veggies just an adaptation phase program?  Now that I am in the third week, I really do not think about eating during the day anymore, which is stunning to me.  I was raised on an eating schedule like clockwork and always thought I was hungry at 7:00am, 12 noon and 7:00 pm everyday.  If the detox program is a normal course of the WD...then I am going to keep up the program of eating just raw veggies and drinking 1-2 fresh veggie/fruit juices  during the day.  If detox is just for the beginning adaptation phase of WD...then maybe I should reduce my undereating menu.

Your thoughts?

I totally agree It has been day 4 for me yesterday was my worst day when I thought I was going to be hungry. Today was fine, and for a 350 lb man that is bad when I get hungry.

Just be careful of mood swings. At that weight you probably consumed all different types of foods. Your body probably became accustomed to this frequent feeding not to mention you might have some addictions to certain foods that can cause mood swings. Detox can cause mood swings too.  Direct the anger at the weight rack (a constructive way!) Smiley  Some people I have consulted with experienced these symptoms.

See this is my biggest thing to worry about.

I discussed this with my wife just last night.

I do get a little cranky when I go for a long period without food. But this week I knew what I was going to be doing so I did my best to keep that in check.

My wife is not sold on this fasting all day and the biggest reason is my mood swing when I have not had a regular meal. But as the week has progressed, I have gotten better. I feel my body is detoxing the right way and not with artificial means.

My one meal a night is really satisfying I have been sleeping better this week as well.

I have taken the week off from working out to get used to this way of eating and I think it has done me better.

I really think this is something I can last with. I just have to get past the weird stares at lunch when everyone else is eating mexican or whatever and I have an apple. or just a small protein shake.
