I am new to this AE Diet, I just started a week ago and have lost 11 pounds! Smiley It is going well and have decided that since I have a lot to lose that I will do at least 2 weeks of each phase before moving on. But the question I have is can I have other fruits during the day besides the citrus ones? I read in the book about apples and pineapple but it did not list those specifically in the laid out plan. I want to be able to get the most out of this diet so if it means not having anything other than just the citus that is what I will do but just wondering what all my options are for variety in the fruits during the day.
Thanks!

You can have other fruits, but I would keep them to a minimum as many tend to be high glycemic.  One key is to keep your blood sugar from fluctuating during the day.  Citrus and berries tend to be lower glycemic.  If you can stick to them, at least initially, you'll be better off.  It doesn't hurt to try some others, but just be aware that too many sugary fruits could hinder the process.

I would say they're fine.  Just make sure that you don't have blood sugar issues.

lastpost, I was wondering if you were trying to lose weight. If you are their are two little things that I see with your smoothie. First as Rick said if you have blood sugar issues do not have the bananas. Also they are not the most ideal fruit to have for weight loss because of being a little higher glycemic. The second problem is that I see in your smoothie you have flax seed (fat) and avocado (fat) and these do not pair well with fruit (sugar). If you have read Ori's books he talks about food combination and asks not to pair fats with sugar if you want optimal results.

Thanks for the replys guys.
With myself it's not about weight loss as I'm very active and hover around the 13 stone mark ( I'm in England  Grin )
I've been drinking the green smoothies ever since reading the fantastic book by Victoria Butenko " Greens for life "
I'm reading AED now and loving it as it's also confirming that Greens are the most important things we can eat.
In her book she makes the argument that the greens actually counteract the sugars in the fruits....any thoughts ?

Cheers.

What would there be to counteract? Sugars can be acid forming and greens are alkaline. But fruits are generally alkaline in nature despite the sugar in them so I'm not sure what would need to be counteracted.

Charles, I think he was talking about what Ori has said about fats eaten in a high glycemic environment can cause the body to store fat instead of burn it.

I think that you can also eat pineapple, it is recomended as it breaks fats in your body and helps losing fats!

How can start a thread: "What is the AE Diet" and then in another post, start telling people what foods are ok to eat?

hello all,
Yes, bananas in small doses can be fine but keep in mind that one banana is like 9 teaspoons of sugar. If it is very ripe and black it will be even more---so watch out.

One thing you can do to balance the sugars is cinnamon. You can get an awesome supplement called Cinnamon Force from New Chapter company. It even helps diabetics to lower the insulin intake, it is great tasting too.
