Day 24 (09/11/2008)
Morning Weight: 72.6kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
HIIT cardio.
Overeating Phase:
Started with a fresh salad - cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, lettuce, onions, and a small bit of sesame dressing. Followed up with mapo eggplant (beef, eggplant, garlic, ginger, bean miso, barley miso, and onions). Finished off with a bit of cheese to ease the burn (it's spicy!).
Thoughts:
Cardio went very well today, but I did notice that my calves and ankles are taking more stress running in the FiveFingers so I may have to alternate between my running shoes for a little while until I get used to the change. It's very subtle, but better safe than sorry. Very enjoyable big meal.

Saneatsu,
Keep up the great work.
On your under eating phase, you should eat some fruit. At least some berries and also high water content fruit. Fruit is very cleansing and full of enzymes. Having a bit of fruit during the under eating phase will also supply your body with a bit of energy and keep it out of starvation mode and holding on to fat.
The under eating phase is part detoxification and enzyme loading. By eating fruit during the day, you're loading up on enzymes giving your body enough to digest the evening meal. Cooked proteins lack enough enzymes. You have to get them from raw foods. This is one reason why I believe you should eat a salad then wait at least 15 min. before your main meal. Your body digests the raw vegetables and loads up with enzymes to digest the heavier protein foods.
Also make sure you're drinking enough pure water during the day too. Your body is made up of around 60-75% water.

LF365,
Thanks for the comments and advice.
The Warrior Diet opened my eyes to the many varieties of Intermittent Fasting out there, and has led me to look into various research on the subject. I came to the conclusion that WD is definitely one great way of doing things, but it's hard to say that it's true intermittent fasting. Even though the small amount of fruits don't really tax your digestive system, so to say, they are indeed being digested, which is technically not fasting.
There's a lot of promise for both calorie restriction diets and intermittent fasting, and at the moment I'm experimenting a bit with moving WD away from CR and closer to IF. So far it's working quite well for me, but as I mentioned before in reply to ishina, that may indeed change once school starts back up and I'm much more mentally active on a daily basis.
On the other hand, I think fruits are great and I definitely want to move them back into my diet, but I'm not sure where to place them in the WD food ordering system when doing things in this fashion. I am leaning toward before or after the salad, but I haven't decided yet.
I think one of the biggest parts of the WD is not so much the method as Ori wrote it to the word, but actually finding the method that works for your body and lifestyle (while keeping the very basic principles).
Thanks again for the advice, and I'll keep everyone up to date on whether I move in a different direction in my log.

Forgot to mention, I definitely make a point of getting enough water. I'm a huge fan of water, and sometimes I'm afraid I may be drinking too much. But I love it. Water is my medicine.
I used to work some crazy long hours and wasn't eating too great at the time, and I ended up with a cold quite often. But whenever I woke up with a cold, I would just drink as much water as possible and by around noon I would feel great with no sign of the cold. Of course, not a great idea if there's not a bathroom nearby

Day 25 (09/12/2008)
Morning Weight: 72.3kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
Upper body workout.
Overeating Phase:
Started with the same type of salad as yesterday. Followed with some mackerel and raw tuna sashimi with miso/wakame on the side. Also had a bit of the mapo beef leftover from yesterday. Then had some of my homemade kefir and some cheese, followed by natto. Finished with a handful of almonds.
Thoughts:
I've noticed that my weight seems to drop the morning after carb days. Not sure what to think of that yet - just an observation. Got to try my homemade kefir for the first time today. It was surprisingly good! Even better than the stuff I've bought at the health store a couple of times. Looking forward to eating that again
Tomorrow I'll be attending a wedding and will most likely have my big meal at the reception since I'll be there until late. Probably won't be great, but I'll just have to try to enjoy it!

Day 26 (09/13/2008)
Morning Weight: 72.6kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
HIIT cardio.
Overeating Phase:
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I went to a wedding tonight, so I was pretty much limited on food choices. I decided ahead of time not to worry too much and just enjoy myself. There were lots of different dishes, and I'm not even sure what half were, but I just had little bits of everything. I did avoid the cake and sweets. I had my share of veggies, protein, and carbs, so even though it was nothing to write home about, I don't think it was too bad.
Thoughts:
Morning weight is always higher after fat fuel days, it seems. But I did notice that after my run, it was about the same as it would be after a run following a carb fuel day (I think). So the difference is the morning weight. Not sure what it means, but interesting. As I mentioned yesterday, I'll be gone for the next week and may not be posting any updates. Shouldn't have a problem keeping the meals at night, but not sure what they'll consist of. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Day 35 (09/22/2008)
Morning Weight: 72.3kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
Light lower body workout.
Overeating Phase:
Started with a fresh salad - cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, lettuce, onions, and a small bit of sesame dressing. Followed up with some saury, tuna sashimi, and miso soup with wakame. Had some kefir, mozzarella, muenster mixed with mentaiko, and finished with some natto with ground sesame and kelp mixed in.
Thoughts:
So I return after a week away from being able to control my evening meals much. Since I was on vacation and staying in someone else's house as a guest, although I was strict about
when
I ate, I was pretty free with what I ate. I never ate outside of my four hour nightly window, and I made sure to eat protein along with whatever fat or carbs I was getting - other than that, I didn't really keep any other rules. I ate until satisfied. I ate some good stuff, and I ate some bad stuff. I did share in some deserts, including a late birthday cake that was made for me. I think I also generally ate a fair bit more than usual, including finishing off most meals with a fair bit of fruit, which I haven't really been having any of since I moved to a full fast in the day. I went prepared to gain a bit, but came back to a loss of 0.3 kg, probably better referred to as a maintenance of weight. I did do a caliper measurement before and after, and while the numbers went down, it was too much of a drop to be trusted. Also, had no chance for exercise during the week away. Overall, even though I would prefer a week of progress, was very glad to see I made no backward steps. Looking forward to getting things back into more motion.

Day 36 (09/23/2008)
Morning Weight: 72.1kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
HIIT cardio.
Overeating Phase:
Same salad as yesterday. Had bibimbap, followed by a bit of cheese and some kefir.
Thoughts:
Cardio was great. Last night's big meal was a fairly small one, but I felt like I could run forever on my last sprint. Great feeling.

Week Four/Five Update
Week Four/Five Loss: 1.0kg (2.2 lbs)
Total Weight Loss: 5.2kg (11.44 lbs)
Week Three BF%: 14.6%
Thoughts:
Since I was gone for the week four update, I'm posting both four and five together. Overall, great results. Had one week that was "off" for the most part, but managed to come out ahead even so. I'm pretty sure that I didn't have that big of a BF% drop, but the important point is that it's going down. I learned from my "off" week that even without exercising or eating as well as I like (and even with a fair amount of indulgence), as long as I keep to my four hour window, I can maintain or even make a slight bit of progress. This was somewhat what I expected, but it was good to see it turned out so. Even so, I'll definitely stick to the exercise and eating well when possible, but I won't feel bad about toning things down to enjoy time with family and friends on certain occasions. I have to admit that my current plan is a lot closer to some of the IF diets out there than WD, but a lot of the basic principles are the same. In conclusion, good couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to hitting some big goals within a month or so!

Day 37 (09/24/2008)
Morning Weight: 71.7kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
Upper body.
Overeating Phase:
Started with fresh spinach and yellow bell pepper salad with fish oil. Moved on to mirin marinated mackerel and some tuna sashimi with miso soup + wakame. Had a couple of... uhh, well they're made of a bunch of fish mixed together and a bunch of vegetables mixed in, and then I think they're fried. Followed with some cheese and kefir. Might have some natto a bit later.
Thoughts:
Overall good day. The mackerel was good, but I think I prefer the un-marinated type, so I'll stick to that from now on. Trying to finish off the kefir before it goes bad. Going to try a different kind of milk next time and see how it affects the taste.

Day 38 (09/25/2008)
Morning Weight: 71.6kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
HIIT cardio.
Overeating Phase:
Started with same salad as yesterday. Moved on to salmon and tuna sashimi with miso soup and wakame. Had some more of those things from yesterday... I think I'll be eating them every now and then, so I'm going to refer to it as satsuma-age (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satsuma_age), although it's a bit different. Also had some pickled shallots. Finished off a small bit of cottage cheese I had left, and ate a small bit of mozzarella cheese. Finished off with about half of a pear.
Thoughts:
Not much to say. Everything is going well. On the exercise/nutrition side anyways - getting ready for school to start again is a different story!

Day 39 (09/26/2008)
Morning Weight: 71.4kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
Off day.
Overeating Phase:
Had my big meal in the afternoon today - a salad and tacos rice (beef, rice, parmesan, taco shell pieces, and a spicy sauce). Also had a little dessert type treat afterward, made from citrus fruit, walnuts, rice, and sugar. I can't really explain this one. It's called yubeshi (http://storage.kanshin.com/free/img_32/329527/k1683744127.jpg). This was a feel-good meal day
Thoughts:
Everything is going well. Right now I am aiming for 1kg fat loss per week, and it looks like I'll make that easily and probably hit closer to 1.5kg. Too soon to tell, though.

Day 40 (09/27/2008)
Morning Weight: 71.1kg
Undereating Phase:
Nothing.
Exercise:
Lower body.
Overeating Phase:
Started with a fresh salad - cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, lettuce, onions, and a small bit of sesame dressing. Then had grilled eel with 16-grain rice, and some more of the vegetable satsuma-age. Also had some cheese, a bit of kefir, and a bit of left over yubeshi.
Thoughts:
Still not much to say. Felt good and strong during my workout despite being on a bit of an extended fast.

Well things have gotten really busy lately and school starts back up this week, so I think I'm going to stop updating daily. I will still give a weekly update, though, so look forward to that

Week Six Update
Scale Weight: 71.3kg
Week Four/Five Loss: 0.8kg (1.76 lbs)
Total Weight Loss: 6.0kg (13.2 lbs)
Week Three BF%: 14.0%
Thoughts:
Things have slowed down a bit, but the weight is steadily coming off, and it seems I'm keeping and perhaps even increasing muscle mass a bit. School just started back up, which means I'm going to get much busier both mentally and physically. Will be interesting to see how this affects (if at all) energy levels, hunger levels, etc. Still sticking to a full fast during the day, and don't see myself changing that any time soon. All in all, everything is going well!
