HI,

First I read about the anti-estrogenic diet then I  discovered the warrior diet four weeks ago and I love it!   But here’s the rub: We have been eating large quantities of tofu for thirty years and our children have had it all of their lives. Our children are 21, 19, 17, 15 and 10. 

I'm not trying to present a challenge, I'm just wondering if any one has an explanation for why we don't exhibit symptoms of too much estrogen.

My daughter is a healthy college senior with a perfect grade point average. She’s 6’ tall but so is her aunt. My oldest son is 6’5”, very masculine and healthy and on his way to college.  The 17 year old girl is tall and wears a size 6. Puberty is on time for the 15 year old and he’s almost 6’ tall. The ten year old is lean and smart. They're all very healthy, beautiful and intelligent: no health problems, no sign of effeminate tendencies in the boys.  They are all 5  in martial arts and are strikingly lean and fit.

My husband has been abusing soy for 30 years.  He’s 57 years old, 6’3”, 170 lbs and wears the same size jeans since he was 17. No fertility problems, obviously. No sexual problems whatever.  No fat in feminine places. I think he’s actually a rare man in that his sexual vitality has not diminished in all these years.  He is lean and strong and can work all day in our garden and around the property even on the hottest days.

I’m 48 and even after 5 kids I’m at my normal weight, though I would like to lose 10 more pounds. I wouldn’t mention this to the average overweight  person because they just get annoyed because I don’t look overweight. I haven’t had the first sign of menopause .  I have no symptoms of estrogen dominance.

You read of the good effects of soy like enhancing the production of collagen, etc.  We seem to have all of the benefits.  I have had people that have not seen me for 20 years declare that I can’t be the same women because I haven’t changed.  I don’t have wrinkles or gray hair.  Nothing sags. Recently some women came into my store to solve a dispute.  They had young girls in ballet and they remembered a woman who had a daughter in the same school about 15 years ago.  One said is was me and the other said it couldn’t be because I wasn’t old enough.  Some people tease me that I’m my own daughter.

We buy and consume 72 lbs of tofu a month; we're vegetarians. That’s about 5.3 ounces a day each, maybe a little more since my oldest is in college and sometimes a little less. We also use about a ½ gallon of soy milk a week(mostly my daughter and I) and a gallon of Bragg‘s Liquid Aminos a month. Our other sources of protein are organic dairy  and we have organic beans just about every day. We mostly eat organic whole grains.  We have a ½ acre organic garden and have always eaten organic predominantly.  Maybe that’s why we only seem to get the good part of the soy deal.

Any thoughts or similar experiences? More importantly, anyone with the opposite experience?  Are there any folks out there that are mortified having doomed their little boys to tiny genitals or feminine ways or given their husbands man-boobs by serving scrambled tofu for breakfast for a few decades?

I somehow have the feeling, this thread is adressing an answer which probably isn't coming and I personally have no real experience with high consumption of neither tofu nor other soy products (let's leave out soy granulate, which I occasionally used).

Your experiences do not contradict the things Ori wrote down in his books in any way I could think of. The key to your health is indeed your lifestyle. All of you are active human beings, which are aware of their environment and live life in a state of happiness and awareness (this is the feeling you're communicating).

Given this, soy products are not remotely able to harm your well-being, albeit not being the optimal choice. You would probably do better on a lacto-vegetarian diet, which is free of processed soy products (I count soy milk and tofu as those - they are rather high in the food chain, whereas raw organic milk is very low), but you are in no critical need for change. You're nourishing your bodies with good organic fruits and vegetables, which is the ideal way to emphasize a diet. It reads very healthy and even feral and I guess, you will never go wrong with such a way of living.

Estrogen excess in most people is a product of numerous factors all working together. It starts with pesticide-loaded fruits and vegetables (which you avoid), the plasticisers in plastic bottles and even the tap water (you did not elaborate on this topic, therefore I guess your tap water quality is either ok or you resort to spring water), the loads of junkfood they consume (all of you, in contrast to that, live on a healthy diet), the sedentary lifestyle those people lead and last but not least the toxins in their sheer environment, which face an easy task penetrating an immunosystem, which is constantly bombarded by the ramifications of a very wrong lifestyle.
Soy consumption on its own seems to be the only estrogen-promoting factor in the lifestyle of all your family members, which leads me to the conclusion, that one factor alone can never be the culprit of excess estrogen blood levels - which perfectly explains, which your husband is very healthy and fertile and all your children are intelligent, healthy and beautiful.

I am in awe for the family you have created and hope you will be doing well in future. Consider the lactovegetarian diet as an alternative, if you are really interested in cutting the consumption of soy products. But you will sure be fine either way.
