1  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: Drinking Oil for Fat! on: May 11, 2010, 07:50:40 AM
Too much olive oil will mess up your Omega 3:6 ratio a lot, not a good thing!

This may sound strange but pure cream from organic grass-fed cows is excellent fuel, tastes great and is low in casein and lactose, butter is even better. Also, try to get some good quality virgin coconut oil.

EDIT: Btw, just because Ori loves nuts (almonds) so much doesn't mean they're THE magic health food, especially in huge quantities. Many many peolpe can't digest them very well, they also have a bad 3:6 ratio and contain phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors.

One can do great without any nuts & seeds
2  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: raw milk on: May 07, 2010, 05:39:20 AM
I imagine this is something you'd just try and use good judgment with. Obviously, if your doing the high carb day, you wouldn't want to drink a bunch of high fat milk, you should opt for skim and vise versa. My best guess is the later in the day the better.

You do realize that milk is also high in carbs? According to your logic it wouldn't fit to high carb AND high fat days Wink Post workout would be great, you can also mix it with some whey. If I had the choice I'd always prefer a real food over processed powder Wink More over, all the goodness is in the milk fat, I'd never ever touch low- or non-fat dairy, it's dead sugar water.

So what was Warrior Whey yesterday, is now Defense Nutrition Whey Protein?

Yes Wink

It's kinda ridiculous but on the other hand, it's good not be associated with the crappy product muscle milk Wink
4  The Anti-Estrogenic Diet / Q and A / Re: Day 4 of Phase 1... I'm miserable! on: March 20, 2010, 04:43:46 AM
In my experience, the only thing that really helps in this case is loads of coffee, which elevates the mood. Is it healthy? Hell no! Wink

Yep, at least the protein comes in plastic containers. Personally, I don't drink out of plastic bottles, but don't worry too much about other stuff as it is nearly impossible to completely avoid it nowadays. IMO the worrying is worse for you health Wink More over, I think that the xeno-estrogens will interact more with fluids than dry powder or capsules.

@Hunter & Dano:

Great posts, agree 100% Wink

@nights:

Yep, he definitely seems to prefer fat fuel but also recommended various types of grains, which seem to be highly inflammatory, allergenic and contain phytates and lectins.

Also, I don't think that almonds (or nuts in general) are that good as the primary fat fuel, they are hard to digest (if not prepared properly) and have a very bad Omega 3 : 6 ratio.
7  Products / Defense Nutrition & Warrior Diet Products / Re: Unflavored Whey- what to mix with? on: March 10, 2010, 02:21:14 PM
berries, banana, coconut oil/milk
8  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Anything on the horizon from Ori? on: March 07, 2010, 03:50:03 AM
@Dano: haha, yeah! The biggest change I noticed that on every whey order the color of the scoops changes Wink I think I've had blue, black, white, transparent and now green Wink

But on a serious note, it's kinda sad. I really liked that radio show and a new book on nutrition would rock! For me, it would be especially interesting if Ori has changed his view on grains, as the evidence against them seems to be getting stronger and stronger.

His blog is dead too...

Hopefully there is still a hidden modereator that reads this thread and can update us Wink
9  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: Is this dinner alright for the WD? on: March 07, 2010, 03:43:58 AM
But those people arent eating all kinds of crap. You are eating all kinds of crap. If you dont want to cycle, at least eat all kinds of good, healthy food.

Hey friend,

i'm sorry, but have you read the book?

You almost completely lack high quality life-food.

A typical overeating meal would be:

Start with a big salad, maybe with some cheese and/or pumkin or sunflower seeds.

Afterwards some Protein (meat, fish, eggs) together with cooked veggies, like brokoli, cabbage, zuchini, onions, leek... you get it Wink

Finish with Nuts and/or plain, full-fat yoghurt, cottage cheeese... or on high carb days you could have rice, oats, sweet potatoes, quinoa,...

Rotate high-fat days with high carb days, for example 3 high fat, 1 high carb,...

During undereating, I wouldn't eat the yoghurt in the morning if you don't train, have it later in the day instead of the protein bar, which I guess is highly processed with loads of chemicals. If you must, have a piece of fruit in the morning or fresh grapefruit juice.

Good luck
11  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: new warrior 3xL, NEED CRITIQUE!!!!!!! on: February 13, 2010, 08:35:23 AM
I wouldn't call it good, it does nothing good for your body but at least it contains no (or very little) anti-nutrients like other grains. It will still spike your insulin levels quite a bit
12  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: new warrior 3xL, NEED CRITIQUE!!!!!!! on: February 13, 2010, 07:41:22 AM
You're welcome!

If you train in the morning, it's okay, I'd also get some protein (like yoghurt) about 30 min after the workout.

The AED focuses on anti-estrogenic food to protect from enviromental toxins, but the principles are the same, light food during the day, biggest meal at night. The two diets are essentially the same, just with a different focus. The AED also intruduced fuel cycling (high fat days and high carb days) but as far as I remember, the latest version of the WD also talks about it. If you have the new WD book, the AED is imo not necessary but still an interesting read. It also contains a three week plan which may help some peolpe to get started.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of grains or legumes because of anti-nutrients like lectins, phytic acid,... The least offensive grain is white rice, it is stripped of all nutrients but at least you'll be able to absorb nutrients from the rest of your food. For high-carb days, I prefer sweet potatoes, but not everyone likes them Wink

I guess if Ori wrote the WD today, it would look a little different (not sure about his opinion on grains, nowadays they've become quite controversial). His podcast stopped last year and we haven't heard anything from him since then...
13  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: new warrior 3xL, NEED CRITIQUE!!!!!!! on: February 13, 2010, 03:30:01 AM
Hey!

If you don't train in the morning, I'd skip the fruit, especially bananas. Have them later in the day, if you must. You could also try some plain yoghurt mixed with the fruit to get some protein later in the day. Stay with water and tea/coffee in the morning or at least low GI fruit like berries.

Nuts are only recommended during the beginning stages and days you feel deprived, other than that they should be part of the overeatingphase (allthough personally, I think it's not a big deal to eat a handful of almonds Wink)

If the corn is not the typical GMO crap I see no problem, especially on high carb days. Just observe how it effects you!

If you eat no veggies, make sure to eat enough meat, fish and eggs, actually one can get all the nutrients from fatty meat (with the exception of vit c BUT the less carbs you eat, the less c you need Wink)

good luck!
14  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: Weird Schedule on: February 12, 2010, 12:12:50 PM
No prob Dano Wink

IF is intermittent fasting, which means a complete waterfast. All the studies about the benefits of fasting are about IF. The WD works great for energy but I don't think undereating will give one the same health benefits as a complete fast. Many people have great results with doing 1 or 2 24 hour fasts a week, you could do that on rest days for example.
15  Warrior Diet / Q and A / Re: Weird Schedule on: February 12, 2010, 04:02:05 AM
Yeah, but if he starts to ingest a huge meal at 1am or later, good luck with heaving a good night...

You will be up till 3 or even later, do you think that's healthy for the body (which is the reason you want to start it, right?)

This is just another example of making life more complicated than it needs to be just to fit in the WD.

I'd suggest you to try 1 or 2 IF days with real fasts (undereating is not really fasting, so who knows if you get the same benefits as when doing IF?) every week
