Question from a newbie

I am on day 2 of phase 1 of AED. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on the timing of the main meal. I work mon-fri and get home around 5:00-5:30. I play competetive rec. icehockey 3 days a week, and have in the past left 3 hours of no eating before stepping on the ice ( its like running on a full stomach otherwise). The games range from a variable 7:00 start to anywhere up to a 10:00 start. How would I fit in 2-4 hours of eating on these days ? Should I go with 2 recovery meals one before, and one after ? Any ideas would be welcomed.
