Has anyone tried the veggie and nut diet Ori talks about in the Warrior Diet book (chapter 5)?

No. I don't remember that but it's been awhile since I read the book.

I know a couple hardcore raw vegans who essentially eat this way, although three times a day. They rarely have the time to cook or do any of the "drying" that makes the bulk of raw vegan cuisine, so usually its just nuts and salad thrown together real quick like. They look healthy enough. I don't really see the point of limiting your diet that drastically though......

I haven't tried it, though I was thinking about it a while ago, my food choices have swung towards getting fat from sources other than nuts. I'm surprised anyone could forget that section of the book, i contains probably my favourite quote in the whole thing: "An almond-veggie diet will give you a nice body odor, almost like a vanilla-almond scent. Sounds too good to be true? Well, that's the way life should be."

If you try this for a couple of days let us know if you start smelling of marzipan!

i was thinking about this too some time ago but i wouldn't do it more than a few days, you'd miss lots of essential fats and the (important) variety in proteins. i guess one could supplement with fish oils though

I wonder how many days it would take for the body to start smelling so "nice"? And what veggies would be the best to consume during this period or would that even matter? I would imagine you would have to cut out alot of things such as coffee, but the detox effects would be substantial. But as ChenZen said, I wouldnt want to do it for too long, my opinion would be a week at the most. And wouldnt you have to consume alot of almonds and veggies?

For some reason I always thought this would be a two-day thing, three at the most. You would have to eat a lot of almonds&veggies but you could make it a two-day undereat I suppose. I would need about 350 - 400g of almonds to get my protein requirement for the day, which is undoubtedly far more almonds than I would want to eat, and I really like them. I will find out exactly how many almonds that is... Ori does say that when eating nuts you should stick to one type at a time (in the context of the main meal) and mentions just almonds in the context of nut/veggies only. You could throw in a few walnuts to include omega-3. In terms of veg, I would definitely go green leafy all the way - avoid starchy veg for this one. No info from the man of course.

I think this is one more example of an interesting aspect of the WD that Ori just does not provide enough information about - somewhat irresponsibly IMO. Fuel cycling is another - there's no way I could've got into that without the knowledge and experience of forum users here.

Hunter - I might be giving this a go in a few days, just for a day though (going to get organised and soak the nuts first, that's a helluva lot of enzyme inhibitors to be consuming if not). I'm unlikely to develop that sought-after body odor, though I will be closely inspecting when I wake up the next morning!

Have at it buddy, and good luck. Let me know how it is/goes. With my summer holidays finally starting I wont be trying it till maybe after (depends on your response too) as I finally get to eat meals with the family (night shifts suck) and I am sure it wont really be a "clean" warrior diet for the next two weeks. So please keep me posted. Thanks

Vegetables and nuts are great for a healthy diet but I don't think limiting yourself to only those two food groups is the best way to diet. I more of a proponent for a well-rounded diet consisting of nuts, fruits, vegetables, breads, lean meats, dairy and seafood. I think their are vital vitamins present in all of these foods.
